About EuroSCORE II

EuroSCORE stands for European System for Cardiac Operative Risk Evaluation. It identifies risk factors that help predict mortality from cardiac surgery. The original calculator was published in 1999 from an international cardiac surgery database and is used worldwide to measure risk and benchmark the quality of cardiac surgical services.

The older additive and logistic EuroSCORE models are now poorly calibrated, though they remain strongly discriminatory. EuroSCORE II was released in October 2011 at the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery meeting in Lisbon, refining some risk factors, such as renal dysfunction, for contemporary practice.

This app puts the EuroSCORE II calculator on your phone as a tool to guide discussions with patients, families, and healthcare providers about the potential outcomes of open heart surgery.

Key features

Who it is for

Cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, anesthesiologists, and trainees.

Important notes

Educational use only. It is not a substitute for the opinion of expert cardiac surgeons and cardiologists, and clinical judgment must be used when rare risk factors are present. Best practice is to adjust the calculated risk to the results achieved by your own unit.
