TUTE Calculator (“the App”) is developed by Bender Apps. The App estimates the time until treatment equipoise (TUTE) for a surgical procedure. This privacy policy explains how information is handled when you use the App.
Data Collection
The App does not collect, store, or transmit personally identifiable information or health information. It has no accounts, sign-in, or user profiles.
The values you enter (sex, age, and the procedure and annual mortality percentages) are used only to perform the calculation on your device. They are held temporarily in memory while the App is in use and are not saved to a server, shared, or sent anywhere.
Analytics and Tracking
The App does not use third-party analytics, crash-reporting services, tracking tools, or advertising frameworks. It does not use advertising identifiers and does not track you across other apps or websites.
Data Sharing
Because the App does not collect personal data, no data is shared with, sold to, or disclosed to third parties.
Internet Connectivity
All calculations are performed locally using life-table data included in the App, so the App works without an internet connection.
The only time the App uses the internet is if you choose to tap the link to the published article. This opens the article page (from the journal JAMA Surgery) in an in-app browser. That website is operated by a third party and is subject to its own privacy policy. Bender Apps does not receive any information about your visit.
Data Sources
The App’s population mortality figures are based on UK Office for National Statistics life tables. Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
Medical Disclaimer
The App is intended as decision support for clinicians and is provided for educational and reference purposes only. Results are model-based estimates that rest on stated assumptions and are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Children’s Privacy
The App is intended for healthcare professionals and is not directed to children. Because the App collects no personal information, it does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
